How to Recycle Power Wheels' Batteries

The Fisher-Price company has been manufacturing Power Wheels children's vehicles for almost 40 years. Power Wheels use 6- or 12-volt rechargeable batteries, depending on the size of the vehicle. The company also sells a battery recharger to ensure long battery use. However, even rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan, and some Power Wheels toys may eventually succumb to excessive wear or damage. When this happens, the rechargeable battery should be recycled.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery from the Power Wheels toy. Set it aside in a sturdy box or container.

    • 2

Find and call a battery recycling center. You can find these online. Stores such as Radio Shack or Batteries Plus, which operate in most states, accept rechargeable batteries for recycling, too.

    • 3

Wrap the battery in a plastic bag, place it in a sturdy container and take it to the recycling center. Make sure not to tip the battery, as older ones can leak, and their contents are dangerous.

Call the company Battery Solutions if no battery recycling center is in your area. Battery Solutions accepts all kinds of batteries for recycling only if you purchase the company's prepaid shipping box.
