Concrete/Cement Tracks
RC tracks made from concrete or cement are best suited for outdoor spaces or permanent spaces inside your home. The trick is to use concrete nails on top of a concrete or cement surface. The nails serve as a binder, firmly attaching the new concrete and keeping it from coming loose or tearing off during racing. The poured concrete placed on top has a smooth surface for racing. You can pour the concrete into molds to create hills or slopes for the track.
Outdoor Tracks
As long as you have a large outdoor space, it's possible to make an RC car track. The only thing you need are garden hoses, wood pieces or plastic piping, which serve as the borders or outline of the track. Clear the yard of any roots, trees, plants or debris. Arrange the borders in a circle or add more twists and turns for a more complicated track.
Carpet Tracks
You can race RC cars on tracks made from carpet remnants. Carpet tracks are also suitable for temporary tracks or tracks that you need to move regularly. Simply lay out the carpet remnants on the existing flooring and use pieces of plywood to outline the track. Use multiple pieces of plywood to create the inside and outside edges of the track. Racers must keep their cars inside the pieces to stay on track.
Obstacles
Advanced racers can create different obstacles inside the track. Arrange sloped items underneath carpet remnants to create slopes and hills that the cars must jump. If using concrete or cement, add grading that makes the track slope. Racers must control their cars and keep the cars at the right speed to avoid flying off the track or crashing into the edges.
