How to Make a Co-axial RC Helicopter Perform Better

As the most basic and simplest to fly radio-controlled (RC) helicopters, co-axial models offer novices and experts a simple way of getting airborne; however, their design makes them somewhat limited in their overall maneuverability, making them unpopular among the more experienced pilots. Learning how to improve your co-axial helicopter's performance will not only make it more interesting to fly, but it will also allow you to perform more advanced maneuvers without spending the money on a more complex flying machine.

Things You'll Need

  • Co-axial RC helicopter
  • Roll of metallic tape

Instructions

    • 1

Peel a small section of metallic tape that measures no more than a half-centimeter by half-centimeter. The smaller the section, the more precise your adjustments will be.

    • 2

Stick the section of metallic tape on the underside of the helicopter's nose. This will shift the aircraft's center-of-gravity slightly forward, resulting in more forward momentum and improved maneuverability.

    • 3

Fly the helicopter as normal to assess the variations in its aerial behavior. If the improvements aren't enough to satisfy your need for better performance, stick another section of tape onto the first piece of tape. Continue to connect tiny pieces of tape until you've found your ideal level of performance.

    • 4

Peel off any pieces of tape that negatively affect your helicopter's performance.
