Setup
Use fresh batteries and give the Dragonfly a complete charge. This gives you the maximum flight time possible. If this is one of your first flights, set the switch on the controller to beginner and attach the provided ribbon to the back of the Dragonfly. This gives you gentler turns and less acrobatic flight.
Inspect the entire Dragonfly for any damage. Even a small tear in the wing can ruin the flight quality of the Dragonfly.
Repairs
To repair a torn wing, use a piece of cellophane tape. Apply the tape without wrinkles. Add a piece to both sides of the Dragonfly to keep from changing the balance. If you have a tear on the left wing, apply tape to both wings. Replace any wing damaged beyond repair. Hook the wing slot on the back of the wing over the clip on the back of the Dragonfly. Push the spars into the white tubes behind the Dragonfly's head.
Trimming the Craft
Even a new Dragonfly has small manufacturing flaws that cause it to not fly straight. The knob on the front of the controller allows you to adjust for this. You will need to make this adjustment, called a "trim," every time you fly. On your first flight, note which way the Dragonfly turns when you aren't touching the steering. Factor in any breeze when you do this. Adjust the knob in the opposite direction until the Dragonfly flies straight.
Flight
Fly the Dragonfly only on a windless day. Even a slight breeze will toss the Dragonfly about like a ship in rough seas. A large indoor space, like a gym or warehouse, is the ideal flight location for the Dragonfly. If you notice the Dragonfly is about to crash take your hands off the controls. This will keep the Dragonfly from plowing into the ground. Avoid over controlling the Dragonfly. Small movements have large consequences in flight.
