How to Make an Air Intake for a Go-Kart

A go-kart's engine is much like a car's engine. It uses many of the same parts, but with just scaled down sizes. This includes the air intake. Like car's, go-kart engines suck air into the engine using an air intake. Once the air is in the engine, the air mixes with the fuel to create combustion. The more air that is sucked into the engine, the more horsepower that can be created by the engine. You can easily make an air intake for your go-kart to replace the stock intake inlet hose.

Things You'll Need

  • 28 mm intake tube
  • 28 mm cone air filter
  • 3 hose clamps
  • Screwdriver
  • Ratchet and socket set

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the go-kart engine and disconnect the go-kart's negative battery cable.

    • 2

Connect the 28-mm air filter to the 8-inch 28-mm intake tube and tighten its hose clamp with the screwdriver. Connect the silicone hose to the other end of the intake tube and tighten its hose clamp.

    • 3

Use the ratchet to remove the bolts that hold the stock intake onto the intake manifold. Place the air intake onto the intake manifold and tighten the hose clamp to secure it.

    • 4

Reconnect the negative battery cable. Close the go-kart's engine access panel.
