How do I Change Traxxas Revo Gears?

One of the key differences between toy radio-controlled (RC) cars and hobby-grade vehicles is the ability to customize the mechanics of the car. Hobby-styled RC vehicles offer an endless array up upgrades and modifications that allow for a fully specialized RC experience. Instructions

    • 1

Remove the four cap head screws that hold the engine against the mounting plate.

    • 2

Unscrew the button-head screw securing the pipe hanger to the rear body mount.

    • 3

Remove the engine and exhaust system to open up access to the spur gear.

    • 4

Use a 2.5 mm hex wrench to loosen the three screws on the slipper clutch. Slide the spur gear from the slipper shaft. If it is tight and difficult to remove, use a small flat-head screwdriver to apply pressure from behind it.

    • 5

Slide on the replacement spur gear, then reinstall the three hex screws. Loosen the two horizontal engine mount screws. Place a sheet of paper between the spur and clutch bell gears to ensure proper meshing. While pinching the paper between the gears, tighten the two horizontal mounting screws.
