How to Remove the Cylinder From a Traxxas

One of the most rewarding challenges for radio-controlled car hobbyists is disassembling the vehicle. If you own a Traxxas car, learning how the moving parts function together is a good way to understand what you'll need to repair whenever you experience malfunctions. You must take apart the engine to remove the cylinder from your Traxxas car. Doing so is a good way to find out how the engine works, while also getting familiar with the vehicle as a whole.

Unscrew the three screws that fasten the exhaust pipe and header on the engine. Remove both the exhaust pipe and the header from the engine block.

Remove the three screws that hold the EZ-start assembly in place, then separate the gear housing from the engine. Remove the 5.0 e-clip from the crankshaft. Slide the clutch bell off the crankshaft.

Remove the flywheel nut from the crankshaft by tapping the backside of the flywheel with a rubber mallet. Insert a small flathead screwdriver into the slot of the split cone washer, twist it slightly to loose the split cone washer, then slide it off the crankshaft.

Unscrew the five head bolts, then slide off the cooling head from the engine. Locate the bottom of the engine cylinder (the sleeve) through the rear opening of the crankcase. Push the cylinder up and out using a wooden utensil to prevent damaging the material.
