How to Cover an Airplane Stick Model With Paper

A popular craft project with popsicle sticks is creating a model airplane. This style of airplane is often painted and decorated with glitter and other items, but it is at risk of breaking apart the first time it hits a wall. Covering the airplane with paper not only decorates it, but also reinforces it against impacts. The paper will be applied with spray adhesive, which makes the entire project very quick to accomplish.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the paper that you want to use for your stick airplane. It can be plain or decorated, but it must at least have the weight of wrapping paper. Do not use tissue: It will tear far too easily.

    • 2

Cut two pieces of the paper several inches larger than the plane. Lay the pieces face-down on a sheet of newspaper.

    • 3

Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your skin from the spray adhesive.

    • 4

Apply a thin layer of spray adhesive onto both sheets of paper.

    • 5

Set the stick airplane onto the center of one piece of paper. Press down gently to ensure that the adhesive has a good hold.

    • 6

Turn the other sheet of paper adhesive-down and press it down against the airplane and first sheet.

    • 7

Smooth the paper down on both sides to ensure that there are no voids in the airplane.

    • 8

Trim the paper along the edges of the plane.
