How to Charge a LEGO Solar Cell

The LEGO Solar Cell is made by eLab as part of the eLab Renewable Energy series of products for LEGO Education. The solar cell has one diode and seven photovoltaic cells, which are covered by a thin plastic sheet. The LEGO Solar Cell can produce up to 2.8 volts in direct sunlight. LEGO Solar Cells can be used to power various types of LEGO Education models as well as some types of LEGO Mindstorms NXT robots.

Instructions

      Place the LEGO Solar Cell in direct line of sight with your light source. This can be either indoor, like a lamp, or outdoor, like the sun.

      Connect the LEGO Solar Cell to your LEGO model or robot using the supplied connection cord. Plug one end of the cord into one of the power ports on the ends of the LEGO Solar cell.

      Allow the LEGO Solar Cell to remain in direct light for at least five minutes so that the photovoltaic cells can become fully charged.
