How to Remove the Loctite on an RC Truck

Loctite is a type of glue applied to certain screws to keep them in place. These screws, once attached, are notoriously hard to remove without a little extra effort. There is a way to remove the screw which calls for some heat and a little brute force. These screws are used in a few different applications in remote-controlled cars. If you manage to open up access to the troublesome screw, you can remove it.

Things You'll Need

Lighter
Soldering iron
Precision screwdriver
Extended handle or torque mechanism

Instructions

  Flick on the lighter and torch the screw head with the Loctite applied. If you can't get a lighter or have access to a soldering iron, you can use that to heat the top of the screw as well.

  Select a screwdriver whose head matches exactly with the head of the screw. On some applications, there can be a size difference, but for this you need an exact match.

  Insert the screwdriver into the screw head, and unscrew the screw. This may still be a difficult process, and you may need to reapply heat a few times in order to get the screw moving.
