How to Store a LiPo Battery

LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries are used to power RC flying toys such as helicopters and airplanes. This type of battery allows your flying machine to stay in the air for a prolonged length of time, but you can always maximize the battery life and prevent it from degrading. The best way to do this is by storing it properly.

  • Sealable refrigerator bags
  • Aluminum or tin container

Instructions

      Fully charge your LiPo battery and remove it from its charger.

      Insert the battery in a sealable plastic refrigerator bag and seal the bag.

      Place the bag in an aluminum or tin container. This will protect your home in the event the battery cells short circuit and combust while in storage.

      Keep the container out of humidity or sunlight. You can keep the battery stored for months in this state and it won't degrade.
