Two-Channel Vs. Three-Channel RC Electric Helicopters

RC helicopters are a popular pastime for people of all ages. Beginners usually start with RC helicopters that have two or three channels. The channels control what movements the helicopter can make.
  1. Function

    • A 2-channel helicopter can move up, down, left and right. One channel controls up and down while the other controls left and right. A 3-channel helicopter can perform the same movements, but has a third channel that controls forward and backward.

    Ease of Use

    • Users must control all movements of the RC helicopter at once. A helicopter with 2 channels has less movements to keep control of. A 3 channel helicopter takes more practice and concentration to keep in the air.

    Cost

    • The number of channels an RC helicopter has will often affect the cost of the product. The fewer the channels, the cheaper the cost. As of 2010, a 2-channel RC helicopter will cost from $15 to $40. A 3-channel RC helicopter costs between $30 and $200.
