Things You'll Need
Instructions
Blow any dirt or other particles out of the chassis using pressurized air. Clean the grime coated on any moving parts with a cotton swab. Tap the chassis with your hand, then blow any remaining grit away with the pressurized air.
Turn the car on its side so it stands on two wheels, then apply two drops of lubricant to the two ball bearings on the two wheels. Rotate the wheel after you apply the lubricant, allowing 10 seconds for it to settle. Apply three drops to the exposed bearing of the differential, located in the transmission at the end of the axle. Turn the chassis over, and repeat the lubrication process for the other two wheels, and the opposite side of the differential; if you're vehicle is all-wheel-drive, apply lubrication to both front and rear differentials.
Check the temperature of the batteries intermittently throughout your run by touching it with your fingertips. Remove the hot batteries to prevent any damage to your chassis. Recharge the battery pack in an appropriate manner, according to the instructions of your specific charger.
Assess your vehicle's body shell for cracks and holes. Apply scraps of plastic with rubber cement to cover gaps and to seal breaks in the shell.
Adjust the mesh between the pinion and spur gears to ensure minimal friction. During demanding runs and jumps, the motor loosens, which can damage the gears as they spread apart. Open the transmission compartment by unscrewing the fasteners. Loosen the motor mounting screws, then move the motor enough to fit a sheet of paper between the pinion and spur gears. Slide the motor back in place, squeezing the sheet of paper while you tighten the mounting screws. Spin the gear and remove the paper, then reinstall the transmission compartment cover.
