How to Hang a Model Airplane

An airplane sitting on the ground may seem unnatural because planes are designed for flight. The same goes for model airplanes, although not all model planes were designed for real flight. If your model plane is grounded, you can easily simulate liftoff by hanging your model from the ceiling.

Things You'll Need

Nylon fishing line
2 eye hooks
Tape (optional)

Instructions

  Cut an 18 inch length of nylon thread. Tie a 4 inch loop at either end of the thread so there are two loops with a length of thread between them.

  Loop the two ends of the thread around the wings. Put the loop around one wing, then pull all the way to the body, and loop the other end around the opposite wing.

  Install an eye hook in the ceiling. Place the eye hook where you want it to end up, then push hard and turn. Turn until it reaches the bottom.

  Pull the middle of the string into the eye hook.

  Position the airplane as you would like it to appear. Balance the airplane. You can tape the nylon down to keep it from slipping in more complex positions.
