Mach 427 HP Specs

The Mach 427 radio-control engine is manufactured by Dynamite, an exclusive brand of Horizon Hobby Inc. based in Illinois. Horizon Hobby develops, markets and distributes radio control (R/C) hobby products, model trains and a wide range of other products. The Mach 427 is a high-power R/C engine designed by Dynamite for four-wheel-drive hobby-grade 1/8-scale radio control trucks, buggies and "truggies." A truggy is a popular remote control vehicle that is a mixture of a monster truck and a buggy.
  1. Bore and Stroke

    • The Mach 427 R/C engine is a two-stroke type with bore of 18mm and stroke of 16.75mm, or 0.95 by 0.69 inches, for total cylinder displacement of 4.27cc. The Mach 427 R/C engine generates 2.85 horsepower.

    Bearings and Ports

    • The front bearing dimensions are 0.3 by 0.8 by 0.2 inch. The rear bearing size is 0.5 by 0.9 by 0.2 inch. The engine has seven ports.

    Carburetor

    • The Mach 427 R/C engine has a precision two-needle slide-valve carburetor. It can be rotated by loosening a nut on the side of the crankcase. The throttle arm must be mounted to the correct side if the carburetor is rotated.

    Fuel

    • Fuel used for the Mach 427 R/C engine must be designed specifically for model vehicle applications only. The best fuels for this purpose are blended with 20 percent nitro. Dynamite offers several fuels to meet these specifications.

    Other Specifications

    • Peak torque is 53.8 at 18,750 rpm. The pipe on the engine is tuned aluminum. The starting system is a pull-type starter. The manufacturer recommends an electric starter be used for initial engine starts. To use the pull starter, use short, quick pulls and never extend the rope more than 12 inches.
