How to Turn Up a Power Wheels Jeep

Fisher Price's Power Wheels are a series of electrically powered, ride-on vehicles for children. They are restricted to a top speed of 2 1/2 mph so that children don't hurt themselves by losing control and crashing into objects. They are, however, capable of traveling at twice that speed. Parents can remove the top speed limitation when they think the child has learned some basic riding skills, like stopping.

Instructions

    • 1

Move the shifter into the low speed position. It's the shifter's middle position. The farthest rearward position is Reverse.

    • 2

Remove the limiter screw in the shifter's base. The screw is to the right of the shifter. On some other vehicles, like the Ford F-150 replica, it's on the left.

    • 3

Screw the limiter screw into the shifter handle for safekeeping so that you can limit the vehicle's speed in the future if you have to. Move the shifter into the No. 2 position -- the forwardmost position.
