What Is BEC for RC Radios?

As RC vehicles get smaller, it has grown increasingly difficult to produce miniature battery packs that offer the same power as their larger counterparts. The battery eliminator circuit, or BEC, has changed the face of electric RC by providing another option for supplying an RC vehicle with power.
  1. Battery Eliminator Circuit

    • A BEC eliminates the receiver battery by using battery energy once reserved for running the motor to also power the radio system.

    Dual Power Supply

    • The BEC divides the power of a single battery pack between the motor and the radio system. This circuit offers an unchanging energy supply to the radio system's receiver while simultaneously providing the variable needs of the vehicle's motor and steering servo.

    Battery Size Does Matter

    • Since RC vehicles require a certain amount of power to function, it is difficult to find a battery strong yet small enough to allow for RC aircraft to fly. The BEC simplifies the vehicle's circuitry by using a single battery for both the radio and navigational systems.
