How to Build Racing RC Cars

RC cars require a certain amount of technical skill to assemble and operate, and many RC enthusiasts prefer to build their own RC vehicles. You must take many factors into consideration and you have many options for building a racing RC car. Knowing how to build a racing RC car can help you get started in RC racing or add a new dimension to your RC hobby.

  • Hex wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Flush cutters
  • Hobby knife
  • Number 11 hobby knife blades
  • Cyanoacrylate glue
  • Bar of soap
  • Wide rubber bands
  • Batteries

Instructions

    • 1

      Read the instructions of the RC car kit carefully, noting any challenging steps or materials needed.

      Cut away any plastic parts from their molds with a hobby knife with number 11 blades.

      Set aside all parts and screws and discard all plastic that has been cut away from the parts.

      Assemble the wheels. Glue the rubber tires to the plastic wheels using cynoacrylate glue.

      Wrap each tire with a wide rubber band after gluing to secure the tires as the glue dries. Allow to dry fully according to manufacturer instructions.

      Assemble the shock towers with the screws provided.

      Attach the shock towers to the chassis with the screws provided.

      Attach the fully dried wheels to the axles on the chassis with the screws provided.

      Attach the servo motors to the wheels with the screws provided. The servo motors will control the rotation of the wheels and their movement left or right.

      Connect the servo motors to the battery pack. Coil the wires together to avoid wire damage while racing.

      Attach the battery pack. Make sure the battery pack is fully charged and the servos are centered before attaching the battery pack and turning on the radio.

      Install batteries in the radio control.

      Turn on the radio control and test the full range of left-to-right movement and rotation of the wheels.

      Attach the body to the chassis with the screws provided.
