Flytech Bladestar Instructions

The Flytech Bladestar from WowWee is a small helicopter toy designed for indoor flight. The device charges for 10 minutes from the remote control, which gives you about five minutes of flight time. There is some preparation work you need to go through before you can get your Bladestar off the ground. The Bladestar kit includes your helicopter, a controller, a spare set of propellers and wings, and the dogfighting accessory.

Instructions

  1. Assembly and Charging

    • 1

Attach the two main blades to the core of the device and place it on a flat surface. Always handle the device by the bottom of the core, with the directional propellers above the bottom blades.

    • 2

Unscrew the back hatch on the controller and install the 6 AA batteries. Close and screw in the back hatch again.

    • 3

Charge the device with the power cord located inside the controller. Give the right knob on top of the controller a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and pull away to reveal the charge cord. Plug it into the side of the Bladestar. Switch the controller to "Charge" mode, and wait for the LED on the top of the Bladestar to start blinking.

    • 4

Disconnect the charger and close the controller. Switch the controller off.

    Flying

    • 5

Switch the controller to "On." Screw the Dogfighting Accessory to the left knob on the controller if you intend to dogfight.

    • 6

Place the Bladestar on a flat surface, with the center of the core on the ground. Flip the switch on the device to "On." Point the sensor on the core toward you.

    • 7

Move the throttle all the way to the "Full" position, then bring it back down to initialize the controller. Point the controller toward the sensor on the Bladestar.

    • 8

Push the throttle back up to about halfway. The Bladestar should lift off the ground.

    • 9

Use the throttle to control how high the Bladestar flies. Press and hold the directional buttons to move the Bladestar in flight. The helicopter's directions are relative to you, so if you press the left button, it will fly toward your left. Point the controller at the helicopter at all times for best control.

    • 10

Bring the throttle slowly down to land the helicopter. Bring the throttle all the way down to turn off the motor, and then switch the Bladestar and controller off.

    Storage

    • 11

Charge the Bladestar to full battery before you put it away. If the battery becomes too depleted, it may fail.

    • 12

Remove the two bottom propellers from the device. Press the buttons at the core of the Bladestar to disconnect the propellers and gently pull away. Tugging on the propellers could permanently damage them. Disconnect the Dogfighting accessory.

    • 13

Place the components in the storage case. The controller goes in the center. The propellers should fit over the spare set of propellers just in front. The Bladestar fits in a specially-molded section on the side of the case, and the dogfighting accessory will fit between the controller and helicopter.
