Connect the track with lap counter attached to your Scalextric track layout. Use the tabs located on both ends of the track to connect with the slots in the adjacent tracks. Position the counter so it's located to the left side of the powerbase.
Remove the screw securing the battery cover to the battery compartment of the lap counter. Pull the cover free in order to access the compartment.
Place two AA 1.5 volt batteries into the battery compartment, taking care to match the positive ends of the batteries with the positive battery terminals. Replace and secure the battery cover once the batteries are in place.
Press any button on the counter to turn the device on. Press the numbered buttons on the counter to input the number of laps that you wish to count for the race. There are two buttons, each representing a separate car lane, and each requiring a single button press for each lap. With each press of the button, the lap counter will display the total laps input. Press the blue button between the lap buttons to reset the display.
Place the slot cars onto the track behind the starting line. The starting line is indicated by an arrow, pointing in the direction the cars will travel with each lap. Begin racing the cars. The lap counter beeps with each pass over the starting line. There is a different beep for each car. The counter will display the number of laps remaining after each pass. The counter will also display a lap time for three seconds, along with a double beep if the passing car beats its previous fastest time.
Listen for a continuous beeping sound to note the winneing car when its lap number reaches 0.Three minutes after race finish, the counter will turn itself off.
