Things You'll Need

  • RC racing is a popular hobby that combines dexterity in racing with building and maintaining RC vehicles. Many RC enthusiasts build their RC vehicles from scratch and frequently redesign, reconfigure, and replace vehicle parts. A Dremel rotary hand tool can be an indispensable addition to any RC enthusiast's toolkit because of its size and accessories that make precise cuts. Knowing what kind of equipment to use and how to use it can save a lot of time and mistakes and make for great-looking results.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the RC body from the chassis, if you are working with an existing RC vehicle. Working with the body separated from the rest of the vehicle will prevent damage to the vehicle and keep plastic dust out of the parts.

    • 2

Attach the Dremel 9901 tungsten carbide-cutter tip to the Dremel rotating tool and turn the tool on. Slowly touch the tool to the area of the RC body you wish to cut. When removing small nicks and burrs, apply the tip of the cutter in short strokes. When smoothing rough edges, use long, even strokes.

    • 3

Stop cutting frequently to remove plastic dust and residue from the cutting surface and the cutter.

    • 4

Attach the body to the RC vehicle chassis. If you are working with a new, unpainted body, paint it after smoothing any rough edges and before attaching it to the RC vehicle chassis.
