Removing RC Tires From Rims

RC (radio controlled) racing is only as much fun as the quality and condition of the equipment being used. For this reason, maintenance is crucial for the dedicated RC hobbyist. Tires are one of the most important factors to consider when maintaining and refitting wheeled RC vehicles. Knowing how to remove RC tires from their rims will enable the hobbyist to install the type of tires best suited to his RC vehicle.

Instructions

Fill a metal pot halfway with water and bring to a medium boil on a stove top. The pot should be wide enough to hold one RC tire.

Place the RC tire on the surface of the boiling water with tongs. Allow the tire to float for 5 to 10 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the tire from the boiling water with the tongs.

    • 4

Put on work gloves and peel the tires back from the rims, working your way around the edge until the tire is removed from the rim. If the tire will not pull back from the rim, return it to the boiling water for another 5 to 10 minutes with the tongs and try this step again.
