How to Use Tech Decks

You can enjoy the fun of skateboarding without stepping outside when you have a Tech Deck. A Tech Deck is a miniature skateboard that is ridden with fingers instead of feet. At just over three-and-a-half inches the lightweight Tech Deck fingerboard incorporates many of the same features as a skateboard. The plastic deck that replaces the wood or wood composite is covered with real grip tape for an authentic look and feel. The underside of the Tech Deck features adjustable metal trucks and interchangeable plastic wheels.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Tech Deck on a smooth flat surface with the wheels facing down. Position the index finger of your dominant hand on the grip tape just behind the front bolts. The front of the fingerboard is the flat end.

    • 2

Rest the middle finger of your dominant hand about halfway up the curved tail of the Tech Deck. Once the middle finger is in place on the tail you will feel a slight upward pressure on the index finger.

    • 3

Roll the fingerboard forward by keeping equal pressure with your fingers as you sweep your arm horizontally over the flat surface. Lift the index finger away from the front of the Tech Deck to lift the nose and roll the board on the two rear wheels. This technique is useful for tight turns.

    • 4

Practice controlling the Tech Deck as it rolls at different speeds and around turns. Loosen or tighten the bolt in the center of the trucks with the socket end of the Tech Deck tool until you are satisfied with the amount of support they are providing.

    • 5

Work on tricks and slide around or jump over obstacles with the Tech Deck to improve your fingerboard skills. Copy skateboarding techniques to come up with original tricks and practice until you are able to land them regularly.
