Propulsion
All R/C cars have a forward propulsion function. Almost all of them also have a reverse function, including single-function models. Some specialized models can actually flip over and return to the same forward and reverse functions when they return to the ground. Most R/C cars have an on/off switch for the propulsion. More advanced full-function models feature an accelerator with a range of speeds.
Braking
Only the larger full-function R/C models have a dedicated braking feature. The reason is that adding a braking system requires additional manufacturing and engineering, which makes these models much more expensive than other models. Single- and multi-function models decelerate either through natural friction or by using the reverse function as a brake.
Steering
Single-function models have no steering function. They are designed to go straight when they are moving forward and always turn in one direction when going in reverse. Similarly, multi-function models can only turn in one direction, though you can make them turn in this direction at any time, whether going forward or in reverse. Full-function models can steer left or right, going forward or in reverse.
Advanced Functions
Full-function models are equipped with advanced features that vary from model to model. An R/C steam shovel, for instance, gives you control over the shovel mechanism. Similarly, an R/C tank might have a pivoting turret, while an ambulance or police car might have a siren that turns on and off.
