How to Make a Tech Deck Ramp Out of a Shoe Box

Tech Deck skateboards are great toys, because they provide all the fun of skateboarding with less of the padding and even fewer broken bones. This is because they're fingerboards, or scale models of actual skateboards that you ride with only your hands. However, half of the fun of skateboarding is having a place like a skate park to explore new stunts and moves. Tech deck fingerboards are not to be left out of this, as you can really easily make your own ramps, half-pipes and other skate must-haves out of a few simple household materials, such as a shoebox.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Take the lid off the cardboard box and unfold the edges of the lid as much as you can.

    • 2

Print out the ramp template, which you can find under Resources. This is a lot easier than drawing the ramp freehand, but if you'd prefer to do it freehand, feel free.

    • 3

Trace the template, or draw the ramp on both sides of the box. If you want to make a half-pipe, trace the template twice on the side of the box.

    • 4

Cut the ramp angle out of the box.

    • 5

Cut the side flaps of the top of the box, which will become the ramp surface, into 1/2-inch square tabs.

    • 6

Undo the inner edge of the box around the flaps, or the parts that have been glued down. Lift them up to a 90-degree angle to create a flat surface.

    • 7

Glue the ramp surface onto the ramp. Dab glue on all of the tabs, and then stick those flaps on the inside of the box and the ends of the ramp onto the top surfaces of the box.
