Hot Wheels Tracks Instructions

Hot wheels cars are miniature car-shaped toys, giving you the thrills of a real race track with none of the dangers of actual car racing. Most model cars lack the moving, and explosive, parts that make real racing dangerous. However, half of the entertainment of racing is the actual race--the other half is setting up the track to race down. To pull that off, there are a few materials you may need.

Things You'll Need

  • Plywood board or wooden plank
  • Hot Wheels tracks and connectors
  • Markers
  • Nails or screws
  • Stunt track pieces (optional)
  • Masking tape
  • Construction Paper
  • Hot Wheels cars

Instructions

    • 1

Lay two pieces of track parallel to each other down the length of the plywood board or plank, and mark the edges of them in several places along the track. Leave about 1/4-inch between the two.

    • 2

Half-sink in a pair of screws or nails on either side of the track to hold it in place.

    • 3

Prop the board against a wall or chair, or some tall object at the what will become the head of your track.

    • 4

Insert a pair of connectors at the bottoms of the tracks, and attach two more lengths of track to the bottom of this track.

    • 5

Repeat the process of adding connectors and new pieces to the track. If you want to add a stunt piece, add it, but make sure there are a similar number of stunts, or the same amount of track on the other lane.

    • 6

Tape the bottom of the track to the floor with masking tape. Tape across the track to form a single, solid finish line. Repeat at the head of the track to form a starting line.

    • 7

Make a small checkered flag out of construction paper. Draw a square flag, and extend a flag pole down from one corner. Make the pole twice or three times the width you want it to be so you can fold it over itself for support. Build a stand so you can place the flag between the two pieces of track. Attach a long piece of masking tape to the flag so it crosses both tracks with the sticky side facing the oncoming cars.
