How to Make a Homemade Scooter Carrier

Scooters are designed to be lightweight and easy to fold up and carry. A scooter carrier allows you to sling the scooter over your shoulder for hands-free carrying. This carrier strap will attach to any folding scooter even if it doesn't have holes for attaching a swivel clip. Ride your scooter to the bus stop, then sling it over your shoulder and get on the bus for the rest of your trip.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a piece of twine 48 inches long. Tie the end around the scooter's handle bar. Tie the other end to the head tube at the other end of the folded scooter. Adjust the length of the twine until you can carry the scooter comfortably.

Measure the length of the twine and add 12 inches. Cut a piece of strapping to this length. Cut two pieces of Velcro 5 inches long.

    • 3

Fold under a half-inch at each end of the strap. Sew the "loop" pieces of the strips of Velcro along the strap at each end. Sew both pieces on the same side of the strap. Sew around all sides of the Velcro.to be sure it is firmly attached.

Sew the "hook" pieces of Velcro 4 inches further along the strap on the other side. Again sew around all sides of the Velcro to be sure it is firmly attached.

Attach the scooter carrier to the scooter by wrapping one end of the strap around one of the handlebars close to the center. Wrap the other end of the strap around the head tube.
