Instructions to Build LEGO Racers

The LEGO building system makes toy buildings, planes and boats. It's also used for making cars, and not just cars, but racers. Because of the flexibility of the building system, you can make a car of any shape, size or style. All it needs is a set of wheels that roll, and a place to race.

Instructions

    • 1
      Typical F1 racecar design

Brainstorm the car you want to build. You can design any style of car, based on cars you've seen in reality or on a design you really like.

    • 2

Build a base of the car out of flat plates. You can make the plate however large or small you want to be, but make sure there's enough room to place the wheels on the car.

    • 3

Build up a layer of the car body on top of the car. Use the color of your intended design. You should make your car as streamlined as possible. The smoother the lines are, the better, and the lower to the ground the front is, the faster the car will go.

    • 4

Attach wheels to the bottom of the car. There should be one in each corner.

    • 5

Add any other finishing touches. You may want to add a driver and another few layers of the car body, or a spoiler. Headlights, doors, windshields or any other touches can be added.

    • 6

Test your racer by rolling it along the floor. Make sure the wheels roll smoothly and freely.
