How to Make a RC Drift Car

If you're wondering how to get your RC to slide around curves like a champion, then you need to consider how you can turn your stock vehicle into a mean drifting machine. Only a few modifications to the wheels are necessary to reduce tire friction. With the necessary equipment, you'll be armed and ready to take your RC car to the drift track.

Things You'll Need

  • RC car with removable wheels
  • Screwdriver
  • Cardboard tube, 1 foot long
  • Super Glue

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Drift Wheels

    • 1

Remove the stock wheels from the RC vehicle; unscrew all four of them, and fit one of them into the tube in order to determine if you need to remove the tire or not.

    • 2

Push the wheel inside the cardboard tube, and use a pen to mark its width.

    • 3

Cut along this line with the scissors, and then reuse this first drift tire to measure and cut three others.

    • 4

Push all four wheels into the cardboard tire circles, and draw a line of super glue along both edges. A better seal with the glue will improve durability.

    • 5

Mount the new modified wheels onto your stock chassis, and give it full throttle.
