How to Mount RC Tires

If you're remote-controlled (RC) tires are losing grip or if you're looking to put new rims on your car, then it's time to put together a new set of wheels for your car. A faulty tire could sabotage your next race or even damage your chassis if something goes wrong during a high-speed run. Follow these instructions to properly mount your tires and get the best performance out of your brand-new wheels.

Things You'll Need

  • Four foam inserts
  • Four tires
  • Sandpaper
  • Super Glue
  • Wrench
  • Four wheel nuts

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a foam insert into each tire. Because some drivers have different kinds of foam in their front and back wheels, it's important to make sure that you remember which is which.

    • 2

Wash the rims in soap and water, and dry them off; if you have chrome rims, you will need to rub the area that will connect to the tires with sandpaper to ensure that the glue sets properly.

    • 3

Insert the rims into the tires. Place the tire on a flat surface, and push the rim in from the top. Flip the lip into the rim on both sides, making sure that the entire rim is properly seated.

    • 4

Pull back the lip and apply Super Glue in half-inch increments around both sides of the tire; if you can, dab the glue on the rim so that when the tire lip is released it holds itself in place without any glue showing up on the outside of the wheel.

    • 5

Use a wrench to fasten the wheels to the chassis.
