How to Build Your Own RC Truck Track

Remote control (RC) monster trucks are popular toys with young children, as well as among older owners who race the trucks. Many racing enthusiasts prefer to build their own track, either to practice racing for competition or simply to use as a source of leisure entertainment. An RC race track requires little more than a few basic yard tools and supplies and enough room to build a track large enough for your liking. While a very large track can be fun, a smaller track, for those with less available space, can still be enjoyable.

Instructions

    • 1

Rake the dirt in the area you will be constructing the track. While some rocks and uneven ground can provide for a fun track, too many rocks is undesirable. Raking the area thoroughly allows you to soften up the dirt in the area, and remove excess rocks. Rocks removed from an overly rocky region can be spread throughout the track.

    • 2

Construct the border of the track using corrugated pipes. The track should be between 5 and 6 feet wide. Secure the piping after you are sure it is located where you want it by hammering stakes through the piping with a hammer or mallet.

    • 3

Construct your jumps throughout the track. You can build your jumps entirely out of dirt if desired. However if you wish to save time or are not experienced in constructing with dirt, you can use wooden jumps by placing the wood jump where desired, then piling dirt around and over it to give the appearance of an all-dirt jump.

    • 4

Spread dirt in your turns with the shovel to create banks. A turn, particularly a sharp turn, should not be level, rather the outer edge of the turn should be higher than the inner edge of the turn.

    • 5

Spray the dirt inside your track with weed-killing spray. This process will need to be repeated, with the time between spraying varying based on the brand used. This spray will prevent plant life from growing inside your track and potentially destroying it.
