How to Identify Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels have long been a favorite toy among little boys and girls for more than 40 years. With several hundred classic and collector designs, nearly everyone can find a vehicle that suits his or her personal style. In addition to the miniature toy cars, fans of Hot Wheels can also play racing video games modeled after the vehicles.

Evaluate the type of car you have. It might be a motorcycle, car, truck or SUV, just to name a few. The OCC Splitback is a motorcycle modeled after the Orange County Chopper low-rider design. There are common cars that have been made into Hot Wheels such as the 1971 Dodge Demon and the 1941 Willys Coupe.

Determine the paint color and distinct design markings that will set the car apart. The Covelight is coated in shiny gold with a purple and black pointed strip running from the windshield to the front bumper. The 1955 Chevy is painted purple with a light lavender fire flame outline stretching across the doors on each side.

Examine the car for details that belong to that sole design. The Chrysler Hemi 300C has giant rims with six spokes. The Solar Reflex has a black solar panel that covers the car from bumper to bumper. Both the Nissan Skyline GT-R R-32 and the AMG-Mercedes CLK DTM have spoilers. The Bad Mudder 2 has an open engine just like the model Straightpipes.

Check to see whether your vehicle has a number. Many of the Hot Wheels are manufactured with racing-style numbers that are easy to distinguish. The Reverb has a number 8, the At-A-Tude has a 32, and the Datsun Bluebird 510 has a 102.
