How to Fly a RC Air Hog

Fully charge the helicopter by stringing the charging cable from the transmitter to the helicopter and plugging it into the charging socket on the side of the vehicle. Turn the helicopter power switch off before connecting the power cable. When connected, a small light labeled "charge" should begin blinking to show that the helicopter is in charging mode. When the light stops blinking, the helicopter is finished charging and you can remove the cable from the Air Hog and replace it in the transmitter cable compartment.

Choose a radio frequency for your helicopter to use. You can choose between three frequencies, labeled A, B and C. Select the same frequency for both the transmitter and the helicopter, switching to the same frequency on both components. If the helicopter responds badly on the chosen frequency, choose another to avoid any outside interference.

Turn the helicopter's power switch on and place the vehicle on a level surface for takeoff.

Press the throttle stick on the transmitter gently forward, raising the helicopter slowly into the air. Watch the helicopter for any rotation as it rises, noting any uncontrolled turns made to the left or right.

Adjust the trim of the helicopter to change the uncontrolled rotation of the vehicle. If the helicopter rotates to the right, press the 'R' button to adjust the trim until the helicopter hovers without any right movement. For left rotation, adjust the 'L' button until the helicopter hovers cleanly. Some versions of Air Hog helicopters use left and right thumb wheels for trim adjustment, turning the appropriate thumb wheel to adjust the trim.

Increase and decrease the altitude of the helicopter by using the throttle stick. Pressing forward on the stick increases altitude, pulling back decreases the altitude of the helicopter.

Use the rudder stick, moving it left and right in order to turn the helicopter in the desired direction. The greater the rudder movement the sharper the turn made.

Move the Air Hog forward by applying a slight turn and increasing the throttle. The helicopter will proceed forward using a wide curve that can be corrected by moving the rudder slightly in the other direction.

Land the helicopter by pulling back on the throttle without applying any rotation above a level landing site. When the Air Hog touches the surface, place the throttle into its neutral position to complete the landing.
