Target Landing

• Try a game to develop basic motor skills with an RC helicopter. Set up a series of target circles, or helipads, and fly from one target landing site to the other. Perhaps set up the landings on elevated surfaces as well as ground level. For added difficulty, make some of the landing pads smaller than others. Likewise, the pads might be located nestled among obstacles, simulating a landing in a canyon or other closed-in area. Stacked boxes can create both obstacles and elevated mesas for landing on.

Pick Up &Deliver

• Use the hook that comes with most RC helicopters and set up packages in places that are difficult to maneuver in and hard to reach. Now, instead of trying to land on these sites, try to maneuver the helicopter in, hover and pick up a package. Then deliver that package to the next site. The game becomes as difficult as the obstacles you put in the way.

Fly a Course

• Set up boxes and other obstacles to create or simulate canyon walls or city structures. The tighter you make the arrangement, the more challenging the game. Now fly the helicopter through this course, not taking the easy out and flying over. Sometimes helicopters have to fly low to stay under radar or for search and rescue operations. Simulate these conditions with an obstacle course.

The helicopters may be delivering goods or troops, or simply flying attack missions. These games will provide a variety of backgrounds and obstacles.
