Preparing to Fly
Ensure that the Reflex's battery is fully charged before flying. A low battery charge can disrupt the Reflex's ability to fly.
When preparing to fly your Air Hogs Reflex, the most important thing to remember is to properly trim the helicopter rotors. Improperly trimmed rotors will cause your Reflex to rotate when hovering and greatly impair your ability to control it. To trim the rotors, push the throttle forward very slowly, until the Reflex lifts off the ground. If the helicopter is spinning counterclockwise, release the throttle and gently turn the adjustable trim wheel in a clockwise direction. If the helicopter spins clockwise, turn the trim wheel in a counterclockwise direction. The trim wheel is a small wheel located above the rotors, at the very top of the Reflex. Adjust the trim wheel until the Reflex does not rotate when hovering.
Tips for Flying
Gently apply the throttle to launch your Reflex. Give it a moment to center itself in the room before attempting to control its flight. At first, do some simple turns with the directional stick and some altitude changes with the throttle. Accustom yourself to how the helicopter moves and responds to your commands.
Use finesse when controlling your Reflex. Do not try to cram several maneuvers together at once, as this could cause the Reflex to lose control or crash. Take your time maneuvering through space. Fully complete your turns before you move the Reflex forward. Do not abruptly change direction at high speed. Give the Reflex ample time and space to maneuver. For your first few flights, do not fly the Reflex through tight spaces, since you can lose control and crash.
As you become more accustomed to the helicopter's controls, start to use more advanced techniques. Learn how to apply the throttle while turning to prevent the Reflex from losing altitude. Try taking higher-speed turns by giving the Reflex a wide arc of space to do so. Use precision when controlling the throttle to maneuver the Reflex over or under objects.
To land the Reflex, simply make sure it is hovering over a clear landing space and slowly reduce the throttle. Be aware that reducing the throttle too quickly will cause the Reflex to crash.
