How to Troubleshoot a Blade CX2

The Blade CX2 is a remote-controlled toy helicopter designed and manufactured by the E-flite toy company in 2005. It is aimed at amateur remote control enthusiasts who want an alternative to the Blade CP, a harder-to-fly toy helicopter. The Blade CX2 can sometimes be problematic to use. Learn specific troubleshooting techniques to overcome these problems and get back to enjoying your toy helicopter.

Instructions

    • 1

Charge the Blade CX2's polymer battery if you notice that the helicopter is losing throttle speed or has insufficient strength to fly long distances. Disconnect the battery from the helicopter and connect it to the included battery charger. Plug the charger into an electrical outlet for a maximum of 1.5 hours.

    • 2

Replace the four AA-sized alkaline batteries in the remote control if you find that the Blade CX2 is slow to respond to your remote control's commands. Insufficient battery charge in the control may also reduce its broadcast strength, causing the helicopter to crash once it leaves the controller's broadcast radius.

    • 3

Check the CX2's center of gravity. An improperly balanced CX2 will be difficult to fly and control and may weave or wobble when hovering. Grasp the flybar, which is the plastic T-shaped device above the rotor. Note how the helicopter hangs. It should be perfectly perpendicular. If the CX2 tilts in one direction, adjust the battery pack to a more central position.

    • 4

Check the service switches on the bottom of the CX2. These communicate with the controls and should be switched in the correct position. All of the switches should be pointing down except for switches one, six and seven. Improperly positioned switches will cause the helicopter to respond erratically to your commands.

Call the manufacturer's support line toll-free at (877) 504-0233 if you cannot fix the helicopter. The cost of repairs or replacements made in the first year of ownership are covered completely by the manufacturer. After this time period, the costs will be billed to you.
