How to Make a Sled From Skis

Skis have many uses. They may help people navigate snow-covered areas that may not otherwise be accessible. They may help people exercise very effectively. They can also be used to make a sled. If you have an outdated or outgrown pair around, you can turn them into a very nice sled that will go fast down hills.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the skis thoroughly. Use soap and water to get rid of any dirt. This will make working with the skis easier.

    • 2

Turn the plastic sled upside down. Using a measuring tape, make a point about 3 inches from the top lengthwise on each side of the sled. This is where the skis will go.

    • 3

Place the skis against the sled. The front of the skis should jut out at least 4 inches from the back of the sled.

    • 4

Screw two screws per ski into the sled to attach it to the sled. Use screws that are at least 1 inch in diameter. This will help insure the skis stay tightly attached to the sled.

    • 5

Glue foam padding to the inside of the sled for a smoother ride. This will help support the weight of any passengers.
