Things You'll Need
Instructions
Pull the bait holder and wire that hold the mouse trap off of your mouse trap with pliers. Discard the bait holder, but set the wire aside because you will need it later. Pull out the staples (if any) that were used to attach the wire and bait holder to the mousetrap.
Screw the eye hooks into either side of the mouse trap approximately 5 to 8 mm from the edge. Go slowly so that the wood does not split.
Draw four 75 mm circles with your compass onto your ply wood. Cut them out with your jigsaw and use sandpaper to make the edges smooth.
Cut your metal rods so that they are both the same length and file both ends. Once they are the same length, cut halfway through each of the rods with a hacksaw. Make sure there is enough space in the rod to place the wire you removed from your mouse trap.
Cut the previously removed wire so that it is 7 mm in length and file both ends so that they are smooth.
Glue the wire into the slot with your super glue. The wire should hang over the axle with an event amount hanging over on each side of the axle. Let the glue dry for 10 to 15 minutes.
Set the axle (with the wire) near the back of the mouse trap. Take your other axle and place it through the eye hole screws. To secure it, use your washers.
Drill a hole in the middle of all your wheels with a 3.7 mm drill bit. Slide the metal rods through the wheels. You will have two wheels per rod, both on the edge of the metal rod.
Tie your string to the middle of the "jaws" on your mouse trap. This is the part that would slam down on the mouse. Make a loop on the other end of the string so that it's located next to the rear axle. If there are any loose string ends, remove them.
Place your rubber bands around each of the back wheels. This serves as traction. If you want, glue the rubber bands to the wheels so that they do not come off.
Raise the "jaws" of the mouse trap and place the loop of your string over the wire that is attached to the back axle. With both wheels on the ground, move your mouse trap car backwards so that the string winds around the axle.
Pull open the "jaws" on your mouse trap and let go. Your car will roll away.
