How to Choose RC Car Fuel

Nitro-fueled RC cars run on a special fuel mixture made just for these vehicles. This fuel is very similar to the fuel offered at gas stations, meaning that each type of fuel contains a number of different chemicals and bases to make each one slightly different. Choosing the right fuel for your RC car is as simple as trial and error.

  Decide what your priority is, whether car performance or the amount of time the fuel lasts in the car. Different manufacturers create fuels that focus on different things.

  Look for a blend of nitromethane, methanol and oil. This mixture was specially designed for RC cars rather than other types of RC vehicles like boats or airplanes.

  Pick a fuel with 8 to 12 percent gas inside. This will make your RC car perform at top speeds as well as reduce the overall wear and tear on your engine.
