Lincoln Log Toy Home Ideas

Lincoln Logs are a classic toy from 1916 that allows children to build any type of structure they imagine using small, all-wood pieces that connect together. In addition to wooden pieces, sets can include several colorful additions, such as roofs, signs for gas stations and general stores, chimneys and fences for animals. The possibilities are limitless when building Lincoln Log structures, like homes, so consider several toy home ideas.
  1. Garden Townhome

    • The garden townhome style of toy home has two stories on one section, a garage and a conjoining middle, as well as a garden terrace on the highest roof. The two stories are featured on the left side of the home, where the front door also resides. Atop this short tower is a Lincoln Logs add-on for a garden terrace, a green piece that resembles a shallow container. You get to this terrace via a tall ladder, which rests against the left side of the tower. To the right of the tower is a conjoining part of the home that connects to the garage. It has a window in the front, is one story high and is of the same length as the tower. It has a basic flat roof. To the right of this is the garage, which has an opening in the front for small cars and a green roof overhead. This garage juts more forward than the tower or conjoining middle.

    Mansion

    • A mansion toy home is grandiose, with a large focal middle and a wide, open porch. The house is constructed by starting with a two-story middle section, which houses the front door and a window on the second story. A roof with a chimney sits on the top. To each side is a one-story section of housing, both with flat roofs. Both sides can have awning-like features, with added roofing jutting out from above the window. In front of the home sits a large porch that spans the entire home's length. This porch is bordered with log fencing and has a front step situated in the middle.

    Modest Cabin

    • The modest cabin is quite simple, making it ideal for Lincoln Log beginners getting used to how to piece the logs together. The modest cabin is one story high and twice as long as it's height. It has a classic green roof and features one door on the right side and a small window on the right. To the left of the home is a chimney, which juts out from the middle of the home's and takes up nearly 75 percent of the wall. For added character and practice, encourage your child to build items that she might do around a cabin, such as a pile of wood for the fireplace or multiple benches for stories outside. Other possibilities include a modest porch on the front or a small garage on the right side of the home.

    Loft

    • The top-heavy loft design features a two-story tower, but with the top story of the tower being twice as long as the bottom story. The first story has enough room to feature a door on the front and a window on one or both sides. The second story has two windows in the front and one on both sides. The roof is simple and can be in any style of your choosing. In the middle of the home resides a ladder, which goes up to the second story rooms.
