Directions for a 24-Piece Wood Puzzle

Wood puzzles have been around since the 1760s, when a London mapmaker, John Spilsbury, created a jigsaw map designed as a teaching aid for children. While many modern-day puzzles are now made from cardboard, the wood puzzle still remains an art form. Puzzles made from wood come in a wide range of types and sizes from complicated pictures with hundreds of pieces to less-complicated ones such as a 24-piece puzzle.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a clear space such as a table or floor for completing the puzzle. Having ample room makes the task easier and more comfortable.

    • 2

Remove the puzzle from its storage container. Puzzles of this size might come in a box or might come in a wood base. Remove each piece if the puzzle is already put together in the base.

    • 3

Turn each of the 24 puzzle pieces right-side up so that the pieces of the picture are visible instead of the underside of plain wood.

    • 4

Separate the pieces into similar colors. Try to visualize how everything will fit together. Look at the box, which might have a picture of how the puzzle will look on completion.

    • 5

Attempt to fit each piece together until you find ones that go together. Complete the puzzle. A 24-piece puzzle should be relatively easy to complete due to its small size.

    • 6

Disassemble the puzzle after completion and store in the original container to prevent possible missing pieces.
