Instructions

  1. How to Build a Miniature Car

    • 1

Draw the outline of a car on the 1-by-2-by-3-inch block of pine with a pencil. Be creative this will be the basis for the miniature car you are about to make. Draw a side outline and an outline of the view from the top of the car.

    • 2

Cut out the side-view and top-view outline of the car with a band saw by following the pencil lines. Once the outlines have been cut, you will have a rough outline of the car. Refine the final outline using a carving knife. Carve along the edges to round them off to make nicely flowing curves.

    • 3

Sand the car with fine-grit sandpaper. Paint the car with craft paint and a paint brush. Paint the wooden toy wheels with craft paint and a paint brush. Allow the paint to dry for the time specified on the craft paint container.

    • 4

Fasten the wheels to the four corners of the car using a screwdriver and small wood screws. Roll the car on the wheels to determine the optimal tightness of the wood screws. The wheel should turn freely but not wobble. Adjust as necessary with a screwdriver.
