Memory Tiles
Cut the wood into 14 2-inch square tiles using the jig saw. Tiles can be made slightly larger if preferred, but they should not be smaller, or they could become a choking hazard.
Decide on seven simple designs to use (for example, a house, a bird, a fish, or a smiley face). On one side of each tile, burn the outlines of the design with the wood burning tool. Make two tiles for each design.
Color in the tiles with paint according to your design.
Apply varnish after the paint has dried. Allow the varnish to dry completely before playing with the tiles.
Tic-Tac-Toe Board
Cut out a 9-inch square piece of wood and 10 2-inch square pieces of wood.
Mark off the 9-inch piece of wood along the sides at 3-inch intervals. You should have two marks on each side. Using a ruler, draw a line from the two marks across from each other to form the board. Go over your pencil marks with the wood burning tool twice to make a deep, dark line.
Burn an "X" into five of the 2-inch square pieces. Burn an "O" into the other five.
Paint over the board with designs if desired. After the paint has dried, apply varnish and allow to dry completely.
