How to Make Rubberband Guns

Disassemble the clothes pin. Pull one peg of the clothes pin free from the spring that holds it together, and leave the other peg attached to the spring.

Draw your gun. Trace the outline of the gun you want to cut free from the plywood. The barrel should be around 10 inches in length. The handle should angle down from the barrel, making an "L" shape, and be about 5 inches in length. Make both the barrel and the gun's handle as thick as you'd like, keeping in mind how comfortable you'd like the grip to be in your hands. Cut out the shape with saw.

Sand the wood. Smooth the edges with the sandpaper, especially around the handle of the gun for comfort. Do not round off the front of the barrel.

Connect the clothes pin. Hammer the peg with the spring still attached to the top of the barrel above the handle using two small nails, such as finishing nails. One should go in the front of the peg, which will be facing toward the front of the gun, and one should go into the back of the peg to secure it.

Slide the top peg back into position on the clothes pin and onto the spring. Make sure the pin still works properly by pushing down on the back end of the top peg. The front of the pin should open and then close when you release the pressure. If not, check assembly and reposition the top peg.

Load the gun by hooking a rubber band to the front of the gun and stretching it back to the front of the clothes pin. Press the back of the pin, opening the front, and insert the stretched end of the rubber band before closing and securing. Aim your gun by pointing it out in front of you and, using the thumb of the hand holding the gun, press the back of the clothes pin. The rubber band will fire.
