How to Make a Kid's Treasure Chest

A treasure box is simple to make. A wood box will last longer, but if you are looking for something simple, a cardboard box covered in paper will work. Children can be involved in creating the box. Use for play or reward.

  • Wooden box with a lid Sand paper Wood sealer Paint or wood stain Brushes Glue Decorations like sequins or foam letters

Instructions

  1. Box Preparation

      Sand the box. Use sealant and allow to dry.

      Paint the box (if not using stain). A second coat may be necessary.

      Apply stain to the box with a brush or cloth, if not using paint. Wipe off any extra stain and let dry.

      Decorate the box by gluing sequins, foam letters or other embellishments to the outside.
