Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose the tree you want to use. The tree must have branches that are level and low enough to lessen and possibly avoid injuries. Make sure the branches are thick enough to hold the weight of the tree house and your children, plus 200 to 300 pounds more, to be safe.
Use a pencil to trace an outline for a doorway and windows on one sheet of plywood. Saw to cut out the door and windows. Use two sheets of plywood for the base, and secure them to the tree with nails. Stand on top of the base and walk across it to check for signs of weakness.
Arrange four pieces of plywood, including the one with the doorway and windows, to form the frame of the tree house. Nail them together. If you wish to reinforce the frame, use wood glue.
Using the remaining plywood, build a roof for the tree house. Design a roof, whether flat or peaked, and nail it onto the frame.
Add a sturdy ladder that is secured to the tree and tree house.
