How to Remap the Keyboard in MorphGear

MorphGear is a multi-platform emulator application originally released for the Pocket PC. Being open-source, it was subsequently ported to the Windows desktop platform. It can emulate several old gaming systems, provided you have legal copies of the games you want to play. Many of MorphGear̵7;s parameters can be adjusted to suit the user, including the way in which the buttons associated with an emulated system are mapped on your keyboard.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch MorphGear. When its interface appears, click on the "Options" icon in the upper left corner and select ̶0;Input.̶1; A pop-up in which you can edit MorphGear̵7;s keyboard mapping appears. It varies depending on which MorphModules you have installed, but the general mapping functionality remains the same in every case.

    • 2

Click on the first button you want to remap in the pop-up. MorphGear highlights the button, making it the focal point of subsequent actions. A dialog box appears. Press the key on your keyboard that you want to associate with this button.

    • 3

Click ̶0;OK̶1; in the confirmation dialog if you're sure you want to associate the key you pressed with the selected button. If you change your mind, click ̶0;Cancel̶1; and press a different key. Repeat this process for each button you want to remap.

    • 4

Click ̶0;OK̶1; in the mapping pop-up. MorphGear saves the new mappings and the pop-up disappears. You are now ready to use the new mappings within games. They can be changed at any time, including while a game in running, by opening the mapping pop-up and repeating this process.
