How to Burn Dreamcast Games With DiscJuggler & WinRAR

The Dreamcast video game console, released by Sega in 1999, is compatible with both CD-ROM and GD-ROM disc formats. The console is no longer officially supported by Sega, and official Dreamcast game software is no longer released by publishers. Creating backup copies of your existing Dreamcast games is a great way to preserve your game collection. After a Dreamcast game disc archive has been copied to a computer using a standard disc drive, a backup copy is easily created by utilizing two freeware applications. The WinRar application is used to extract Dreamcast game files, and the DiscJuggler application is used to burn the backup game to a blank CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Dreamcast software digital archive using WinRar. Highlight the ".CDI" file and click "Extract All" on the main WinRar tool bar.

    • 2

Select the save destination for the file, and click the "OK" button. Exit the WinRar application.

    • 3

Launch the DiscJuggler program, and click the "New Task" button in the main tool bar at the top of the application window.

    • 4

Highlight the "Burn Disc Images" option, and click the "OK" button.

    • 5

Browse to the location of the extracted ".CDI" file. Highlight the file, and click the "Open" button.

    • 6

Click on the "Advanced" tab to display the list of burning options. Click the "Mode" drop-down box, and select "Mode 2" from the list of options. Click the "Raw Write" check box in the miscellaneous section of the Advanced Burn Options menu.

    • 7

Insert a blank CD-R into your computer's disc drive. Click the "Start" button in the bottom left corner of the DiscJuggler application window. The Dreamcast software backup image will be burned to the disc.
