How to Make a Game ISO Region Free

Game ISO files are commonly created for the Xbox console. The ISO format is basically just an archiving format, similar to the RAR and ZIP formats. Many games were released for specific parts of the world. For example, PAL games were commonly released just for Europe and NTSC games were released just for the United States, although the console could play both of them. If you want to play a game that was not released for your country, you must first make the game ISO region free.

  Insert the CD or DVD containing the game ISO file in your computer's CD/DVD-ROM or, if the file is on a USB storage device, plug it in a USB port. Open your computer's file browser, find the game ISO file (.iso extension), right-click on the file and select "Properties" in the resulting menu. Write down the "Size on disk" value.

  Right-click on a partition in the file browser and select "Properties" in the resulting menu. The "Free space" value must be at least equal to the size of the game ISO file. If it is not, find a partition that has more free space. If you download the file from the Internet, Windows will alert you if you don't have enough space on the partition where you want to store the file.

  Click on the partition name, right-click in the white space in the right pane and select "New" from the resulting menu. Select "Folder" to create a new folder. Name it "ISO."

  Right-click the game ISO file and select "Copy" from the resulting menu. Navigate to the ISO folder you just created, right-click inside the white space in the right pane and select "Paste" from the resulting menu. The ISO file will be copied to the ISO folder. If you download the file from the Internet, click on "Browse" in the Download window, double-click the ISO folder and click "OK."

  Open your favorite Web browser, type "http://bit.ly/rLpDcJ" in the navigation bar and press "Enter" to start downloading the Xbox 360 Game Hack 5.2 tool. Use the "Browse" button to select a location where to save the file. Click "OK" to download it.

  Right-click on the file you just downloaded and select "Extract here" from the resulting menu. A new executable, named "X360GameHack.exe," will be created in the same folder.

  Double-click the executable file to start the tool. Click on the "Browse" button in the Game Directory Path section and select the ISO folder containing your game ISO file.

  Un-check all the patches in the Xbox360 and Xbox1 Patches sections. Place a check mark in front of the All Region patch in both sections.

  Click the large "Fix" button to remove the restrictions from the game ISO file and make the game ISO region free. Note that this action will overwrite the ISO file.
