How to Find Princess Ruto in Zelda: Ocarina of Time

"The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time" is a Nintendo 64 game that canonically takes place sometime after "Skyward Sword" and before the first four games of the series. In this game, one of your tasks is to locate Princess Ruto, who has gone missing and alerts Link through an S.O.S. in a bottle. The letter states she is trapped inside Lord Jabu Jabu, and you must find her.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the Fishing Pond to the north of Lake Hylia. Purchase a fishing rod from the clerk on the right, which will cost 20 rupees. Walk up to the pond and press the "Z" button to target a fish. Press "B" to cast your rod and capture the fish. Leave the pond and return to Lake Hylia.

    • 2

Enter the ruins near the shore of Lake Hylia. Swim into the tunnel and return to King Zora, whom you met earlier in the game. He will take the letter and read it before begging you to save Princess Ruto.

    • 3

Walk around King Zora's throne and enter the tunnel. This tunnel leads to his fountain, built around Jabu Jabu himself. Walk up to the mouth and hold the fish from the Fishing Pond. This causes Jabu Jabu to open his mouth to eat the fish, along with you.

    • 4

Defeat the Octoroks that appear shortly after you enter with your slingshot. When these enemies fall, Shaboms will attack; these are weak to your Deku Nuts. Go as far north as you can when the Shaboms fall, shooting the yellow circle on the ceiling with your slingshot. This opens the door in front of you, allowing you to enter.

    • 5

Avoid all the Biri that approach you. Though Deku Nuts will stun the enemies, the rest of your weapons won't harm it, and it is easier to just avoid them altogether. Turn left where the platform turns, and then enter the door on the right-hand side. In this room, you will find Princess Ruto.
